Humdinger of a storm

At last - the heavens have broken and the Midlands is having a humdinger of a storm.

For those of you who can't watch the lightening out of your windows, watch it live and in realtime here:

Live storm data from Newport, Isle of Wight from a Boltek StormTracker lightning detector

rain at last

I've just spent 5 minutes glued watching little coloured blobs over a map of the UK...

Thank you gansell

It hit Aylesbury at 3 this morning.

I've never heard thunder like it! It was like the voice of God. The whole house was shaking and each rumble lasted a couple of minutes.

Was nice and late for work this morning due to being woken up in the night and the subsequent power cut meaning no alarm clock

You'll be fine (I hope). Seems to be fizzling out over the North Sea now. Central France seems to be getting a few storms though.

Yes - it was cracking like nothing I have heard before around Winslow. We didn't gut a power cut though! Tough luck Aylesbury - God has his favourites
