Alloy Wheels

Hello YD'ers,

Last November I was unfortunate enough to have my little 1.2l Corsa Comfort stolen

However, received a call from friendly Plod a couple of weeks ago telling me it had been sold on false plates to some other hapless individual!

Going to recover the car (the other guy can't afford to pay me for it) but he has plonked alloy wheels on the thing! Whether this is or I dunno!

So, my question, do I sell the car with the alloys on, or put the original hubs on and sell the alloys separately? Do the sort of people who want a little pootly 1.2 Corsa want alloy wheels?

Any advice gratefully received!

If it was me, I'd put the ordinary wheels back on, ( at my own expense ) and give the guy his alloys back, because he's already "bought" your car in good faith, and has had to give it away, so he's already lost quite a lot, to my mind this is the only Decent way to do things

I've agreed to buy the alloys off him (he's a student, can't afford another car to put them on) you see.

I had offered him the car for 50% of what it's worth to me, which I think is very charitable (an insurance company would have demanded market value) but nothing doing.

It's especially crap for him, because he'd been driving around in the car for months before it transpired that it was stolen. Feel very sorry for him.

Yeah so do I, it's a terrible thing to be conned like this, but fair play to you for buying the alloys off of him, and offering him a deal on the car's worth, can't say fairer than what you've already done

I'd sell them seperately. Will not add much value to the corsa by having them on.

who is your insurance company..worried that you have your car stolen for months and havent been paid out.

Insurance company is Elephant. The circumstances in which the car was stolen meant that the claim wasn't successful (b*stards!) hence no payout.

id sell the cars with the originals on then sell the alloys. u will make more from them that way. u could also do as surgessted and give them back to the guy. it depends what makes u feel good at the time. he really didnt do anything wrong did he
