Guess the year

OK, this is a couple of pics taken by a friend of my first ever dive. This was a try dive at Stoney Cove where the instructor took me down and did everything for me including operating my BCD! All I had to do was fin and breathe. It turned out to lead to expensive times ahead
Anyway, some of you out there know my story so can date this, but lets see how the rest of you do...

By the way, I won't be saying yes or no to anyone to see what people think. I'll reveal the answer tomorrow

Based on those fins, the first stage, and a guess at the gear wasn't brand new, I reckon 1990.

It is thrown a bit by the tank, which looks like a steel 10, but I could be wrong, it's hard to tell without having a better idea on your size! Could be a 15? I'm assuming from the boot it's a steel so all those crap old allys I now use as stages are out of the question, putting it definitely past the 80s.

I should be a diving detective, unles I'm way off the mark, in which case I should go back to being a bum.

Digs.

EDIT - I think I might change my mind. That hydrotech logo looks too new for 1990. The suit looks like it has a coupel of years on it, and the logo is reasonably recent isn't it, so more like 1998. The rest of it is probably just old stuff that's been looked after. Can't see enough of your instructor's gea to help with the process, on the basis of instructors having newer gear it would probably be a better guide i reckon.

2nd EDIT - You're not on the usual entry points at the Cove, so I reckon maybe it's older than last edit. I go back to my original 1990 estimate. Can I still win a prize?

3rd EDIT - Do I get extra points for knowing that it's late summer? When I say knowing, I mean guessing.

Just out of curiosity, is that a SeaQuest BCD? Faded to a browny colour as they do? If it is I need to get a life.

Hmmmm, I first started around 1986 (until 1987, started again 2004), BCD's were the latest invention for recreational scuba then, so I'd hazard a guess at 1989.
