Diver Needed for Formula One Powerboat Races

Some local tosser has just pulled out of the Rescue team, and we're now 1 diver short the night before the event.

If anyone's in Plymouth and can help out in exchange for T-shirts and caps with VIP Pit Lane passes for the apres event on the hoe. Please call me on 07867 525458 we're desperate. We'd need you at our shop at 7.45am and we should finish by 3.30, you're duty would be to rescue the throttleman and driver should one of the boats flip over. Please be aware these things do 200 miles an hour, sometimes only 10-20m away from you, so it's not for the faint hearted.

We need a Dive Leader, Divemaster or above for tomorrow (Sunday) 7.45am

Did I mention this is the World Championship as well as the usual Little Honda 225hp races.... loadsa fun, we were all at the champagne reception last night, and tonights bash should be another good one!

We had to red flag the race this avo when a boat flipped and threw both drivers out. 2 of our high speed Ribs had to get their divers in the water , the casualties were recovered onto the RIBs and attended by the Hereford Paramedics. They've since been taken to hospital both quite badly bashed, but both are walking.

If you can help, please call me on 07867 525458.

Thanks,

Brian

Couple of boats ended up on the shore!
Have fun tomorrow.

They had those big powerboats during the war? I missed that in my History lesson - I must have been skiving that day

I've just got back from Plymouth, diving off Cee King. When we were coming back into the harbour, we caught the tail end of one of the races, with circling helicopters and stooopidly fast power boats. We then pootled past to see the King of Shaves boat upside down in the water getting towed back into harbour by one cruiser, surrounded by about A GAZILLION [1] onlookers in ribs looking at the trashed boat. Didn't see what happened, but can't have been good.

[1] Ok, maybe *slightly* less...
