    Hi Andy,

I only met you a couple of times with Chris. He told me what kind of diving you all did which impressed me. So your retirement comes as a kind of a shock to me. Anyway, I hope you can enjoy your dive retirement and find a good replacement moreover I hope to see you back at YD sometime.

    Best regards,
    Robert-Jan

I would like to publicly thank you for your time and efforts in constantly improving my diving.

I know I was trained by the best.

Well, this is not so much a surprise to me as it is for some as we talked about you hanging up your fins while we were doing my course, and I'd thought you would have a little sooner.

Life passes through phases and there always comes a time to move on to something else. You of course leave a legacy of some very competent and able divers and your reputation will last. I'm just very glad that I managed to get my training with you before you did decided to retire. Now if I'm going to do any more training I'm going to have to travel all the way south to use Mark!

Thanks for your invaluable contribution to my diving and best of luck with all your future plans.

You certainly contributed to making me a safer and more careful diver. Like Fiona I will never forget my skills day with you. If you had ever told me bbefore hand that I would be swimming in freezing cold water, with no mask on, following a line whilst carrying out shutdowns and reg changes I would never have beleived you.
But you made me know I could do it.

The very best of luck to you and Jen for whatever life brings you next.

    Hi Andy

All the best to you in your retirement and take it easy (at least for a while).

I only did one course with you along with a couple of mates, but I saw Capers and the Lakes in a different light, along with diving. We learnt a lot and you taught us well.

Regards to you Jen and the mutt!!

Good luck for the future Andy, we only dived once together and that was in Plymouth recently when a group of us did the Claverley.

    Wow!!

I'd like to add to the thanks expressed by many on here. Diving with you has certainly made me a safer more competent diver. I'm sorry that you have had to give up diving through injury. I had hoped to continue training with you as my diving progresses but that is now no going to happen.

I'd like to wish you and Jen every success in whatever you now choose to do next. I know that with your dedication you'll prove to me a massive success at that too.

Andy - like many others here, the main reason we managed to get competent at at the thing we like doing was you and the guys that worked with you.

Me and Fi both remember doing Hodge Close and Wast with you and I will never forget the shutdown drills, with no mask, along a line when at the same time you were singing into the rebreather. I think your singing was worse than any drill.

I was always very grateful of the way you gave your time with gear set ups and general words of wisdom.

I also remember you in full drysuit spending 30 mins running after your dog around Wast looking like an escapee from some kind of S&M One Man and His Dog TV programme.

So what's next .... naked bungy jumping?

Whatever you decide you'll do it excellently.

    Best

    Gav and Fi
Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet in the pub.

Andy, you gave me most of my tech training, for which I am eternally grateful. The extra stuff you taught me has got me out of the shit, and has helped me to get others out of the shit, on more occasions than I care to admit to. To me, that's what makes someone a great instructor, which clearly you are.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do in the future.

    All the best,

    John
