My Retirement from diving

Hi all,
first I would like to say a big thank you to all my past students for training with me at Dalesdivers, and that I hope you all carry on to have a safe diving career or hobby.
I have had some great times and met loads of super people through my years in the sport, sadly I have lost too many very good friends as well, so it's now my time to have to give up.
I am upset at having to leave the sport I love so much, but the shoulder problem I have will only get worse if I carry on diving, so it's better to quit while I have a chance to let it mend a bit, rather than wreck it forever.

I hope that friends will keep in touch, as I am not leaving the planet, I will still be happy to give advice to people and help anybody if I can.

The only thing I would like to be remembered for is trying to make people dive safer, and not take risks that are not needed underwater, and enjoy diving, forget all the political inter agency bollocks that seems to rule diving these days.

All the best

Andy Hayhurst
Formerly of Dalesdivers

Andy, what a bombshell!

Sorry to hear you are retiring from diving. What you gonna do with your time?

I'd like to be the first to give you a public thank you from both myself and all on YD. As an instructor you gave a lot to the site.

I'll give you a call in a few days.

Andy

Sorry to hear that Andy.

I haven't had a lot of training with you but I won't forget my skills day, it's certainly a day I won't forget

Thanks for making me think about what I do a bit more, I hope you enjoy whatever you are going on to do.

Take care and best wishes

Fiona

Just to echo what has already been said... what a bombshell!

Very sorry to hear about it, and I do hope your injury clears up. I for one would like to thank you for all your help which went over and above just the courses you ran (which were superb in their own right).

Cheers, Paul

Andy,
I never had the pleasure of meeting or diving with you. However there is no doubt in my mind that someone of your standing in the diving world will be sorely missed.

I'm very sorry to hear that injury is forcing you to give up diving.

Regards & Best wishes

Andy.

I also have never had the opportunity to dive with you or be trained by you, however your excellent reputation preceeds you.

Whenever I asked about training your name always came up.

May you have a happy & long life doing what ever fills the void that is diving.

All the best in finding a new past-time and career.

Davie.

P.S. you could still do the odd holiday dive in warm waters for fun couldnt you?
