| try mixture of half vinegar and half water, lay on side (unblocked one) and leave solution in for a little while whilst moving jaw... if it does not work, at least those around you will get a cheap laugh.. best of luck with it, many divers have been there done that... B x

| Olive oil, and no I'm not joking. Also, bizzare but true, a certain famous and totally deaf dive guide in the Red Sea swears by hot lemon, lots of sugar and water. It shouldn't work, but it does. Failing that, the nurse at the doctors surgary and a quick syringe. Not only does it work, but feels great too. Andrew

| This may not be a question of water in the outer ear, but rather fluid in the middle ear as a result of not equalising effectively on dives. I would go and see your GP for an evaluation, as if it is fluid in the middle ear, you will have to let it be reabsorbed before diving. It will also give you a clue as to your equalisation techniques and their effectiveness. If you don't do this, and have problems, there is a possibility of rupturing your oval window and this can pretty much put your dive career on hold for months, or even permanently. Also (and this is a personal thing), punctuation in your postings does make you seem so much more professional and less of a kn*b. Try it. |

Olive Oil (but it should be medical grade not sainsbury's special) and all the other remedies are good for keeping water out and drying ears, unless you are absolutely certain that is is simply a bit of water, go to your GP. There are treatments which are available on prescription which may work better than any of those listed. If your ear isn't better by the weekend, then you really will have to delay your OW dives until it is.

So long as you have no discomfort at the moment then I would recommend performing your ear clearing technique over the next few days since that will help clear the ear and improve your technique too. If in any discomfort or doubt then consult your doc. Quote:
