Used to have an A6, which was great. Resonably reliable, fast, frugal and fitted 2 sets off kit, plus camping stuff (and we don't camp lite

). One eventful trip to Swanage, the boat trailed broke, and we had to sling the engine in the boot. We limped home on the bump stops, half our dive kit in other cars, and wit kit dripping on the light cloth seats. We then got an Astravan, but it was unreliable for a 12 month old vehicle, and couldn't hack the weight of full kit and camping gear for 2. This was a mistake really, so it went. It was very cheap to run, and quite nippy though, at 50 odd mpg.
Next came the Navara, with bed top, which swallows 4 sets of kit, camp stuff and 4 divers, will tow a very large boat (not that we have a large boat, but it does the horse box ok!) and will still return upto 36mpg, though usually nearer 33. Its also very quick, for a tank.
If anyone gets on the ECO high horse, its better to have 4 divers in 1 car, than 4 divers in 2 or 3 cars
Finally, to replace the van, came an Octavia. As mentioned, a cracking car. Its a 2l diesel, will eat 2 sets of kit, all in the boot, and do about 44mpg (and rising. It only has 2k on the clock, so will hit ideal effieiency in about another 12k).
