Nice to say the Navy having something new. I had the impression the government were taking out ships left right and center.

From the pics it doesn't look at that big though.

That is because this sub and the ones to follow are years late and over budget (this one by about £500m), so something will be cut.

Well the Tomahawks it carries could be converted.

Nice to see that for once the British military has something top of the range in service - something its not managed for decades. Russia also launched a new class a few months ago. For once we can actually have something comparable in technology to the yanks for a while at least.

It even comes in DIR black - although those planes sticking out i reckon are an entrapment hazard

Red face

These boats are SOOOOO late, they make the Typhoon(eurofighter) look good.

Having said that, there are bits in that bugger that I made, and a couple of the other boats as well.

It’ll need good sonar just to get to the open sea. About a month ago I dived the channel between Barrow and Walney Island (where the sub will be sailing) and the viz was shite! Less than 1/2mt! Didn’t see any subs coming our way.

It was quite good last week, a few lobsters around.
If you try diving the channel when the boats leaving you might get invited for an interview with plod.
