Daz,

I don't think anyone was slating her for her freediving conquests, and she might be a really nice person in "real life".
But as a presenter she comes over as someone up their own arse waxing lyrical about having a "special bond" with any sea creature that happens to fart in her general direction.
And also saying "as a freediver" at the beginning and end of every sentence.

I saw the programme and thought that she spent way too long trying to cook up some justification for being there doing what she was doing. She thought that she could maybe get some photos that other members of the research team couldn’t get, but that didn’t seem to work out. So instead she was given the job of trying to collect some dolphin poo, as they could tell the family history from the DNA in it. When she successfully did this the leader of the research team told her the name of the dolphin she had collected it from – so what was the point in that?!
When the programme had finished I felt that I knew no more about dolphins or the research that the team she was diving with, but knew an awful lot about how angst ridden Tanya was about diving with them and how much she needed a cooked up excuse to justify being there and making the programme.

For someone who spends such a lot of time in the sea, she does seem inordinately scared of its inhabitants. I seem to remember watching a similar load of drivel involving Tania and her 'issues' over diving with sharks not so long ago.

I get the distinct impression that the programme is merely a vehicle for arty shots of Tania and her mono(tonous)fin.

And before anyone starts bleating on about her achievements, I have nothing but admiration and astonishment for her incredible freediving abilities. Perhaps she should stick to what she does best.
