ST Abbs

I am off to St Abbs with the my club on 1st and 2nd September and diving from Paul's boat Topline on Saturday and Sunday but staying in Eyemouth. A few of us are getting there early doors on Friday so want to get some shore dives in and a night dive, either in Eyemouth or St Abbs. I have been told of the Gulley but what and where else is there? Please dont just give names could you give locations as well?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yaz

Yaz, there are 2 places that I know at St Abbs the 1st is a walk around the harbour the 2nd to the left of the harbour - straight over the wall.

I think there is a sign up say no night dives though

You can also shore dive near where the dive centre is at Eyemouth, cant ever remember the name of it. Its the one by the harbour and where the fish are weigh and sold. If you ask in there they will point you in the right direction. Which will be easier than me try to give directions on here. You wont get much more than 15 metres depending on tide however it is normally teaming with life. If im not working I cold head over that friday and show you all where it is.

The gulley you mean is called Greenends Gulley. It is at the end of a dirt track behind Aquastars Dive Centre. You can take the car there and if you are lucky and it isn't busy you can get right down to the entry point.

Look at Dive Buddha's post number 7 on this thread. The picture shows two divers sitting on a concrete ledge. This is a concreted-over disused sewage pipe that goes down to Greenends Gulley (to the right of the picture and just in shot).

The entry and exit are really easy and only become a bit of a chore at very low tide. At the end of the gulley you can either turn left and exit in the gulley shown in Leigh's picture, or turn right and expore some other gulleys before coming back to your entry point at the pipe. It's a fantastic dive!
