Mobile for diving?

I use an Ocean Reef FFM and occasionally get a newsletter to advise of things happening and upgrades etc etc.

Apparently OR have devloped a mobile phone to use with the FFM. Also, they have developed a helmet to wear with the FFM for cave, ice diving etc etc.

I don't know why anyone else would be interested but info may be found at -

Hmmm, the 40m of cable that attaches to your FFM would detract a little from the concept of a "Mobile" phone though.

I haven't read the article. I only saw the headline in the newsletter.

Does it have a tin can at each end of the line?

If I had the money I would like to try the comms (diver to boat) option then I could ask him to stop motoring about and making those scary noises whilst I'm on the wreck or wind him up about how deep the shot is into the wreck.

the one place i enjoy some peace and quiet and it gets feckin invaded by the mobilophiles, do people actually understand that the world won't stop if your not in instant contact with at least 8 other people and aren't updating your facebook page about what you had for dinner. I want a big gun and a license to shoot annoying people with mobiles such as the dappy bints who just stop dead in the middle of the pavement to start texting their mate cos they saw something the other day on Bigfeckinwankerville house and i end up falling over trying to avoid them. Mobile phones can be left on their own they don't get lonely and don't need constant attention.

Well, once, I could have phoned SWMBO and explained/apologised for being about to die. Since that occasion she has been quite keen on my phoning her as soon as poss when back on board although, I explained mobiles and RIBS don't really go together so now 'back on shore' is good enough. Hmmm, I would prob have to phone from the 3 mtr safety stop. It might be a good idea. I could phone her up during the dive and explain how exciting this piece of rusty metal is at 45 mtrs whilst diving 'on air'?

It would mean work could phone me up during an "emergency" and I could explain to them how to fix whatever isn't working?

You could do the decent thing and phone your mates to explain that you can't make 10 pin bowling tonight because a shark's just had your leg off at the hip.

You could phone the skipper and call him a cnut if he missed the wreckl with the shot or book your tea/coffee?

I'd like to see it extended so that with a maybe 3 cells (probably surface side) you could both track the diver and use it as a nav system.
