| Dianne (Madfish) flew out Virgin and she packed two bags, one with her dive kit in. I would say 23kg was nearer the mark though. Are you sure there is nothing on their website. Edit. Virgin sporting allowance Diving is listed and it does say 32kg. My advice would be to print off a copy of the page. Last edited by Fiona : 29-11-07 at 01:32 PM. |

| Usually when any airline doesn't specifically mention diving gear in their sports luggage allowance, it won't get through. Certainly not with the cheaper airlines, I have never flown with Virgin, so I don't know specifically for them. Ring their customer service line again and try a different person for clarification perhaps ?

| As suggested I would ask again, 2 baggage sections on the website does say different things, as an economy passenger traveling to Africa one says sports equipment 10kg and the sports equipment page says one piece weighing no more than 32kg. Ignore the Dianne comment because she would have been traveling on the 2 piece rule. |

I have just come back from Antigua with Virgin, I took two suitcases and spread my diving gear out between them. They were both well under 23kg. I was told by Virgin that any suitcase must not go over 32kg hence why i divided it into two. HTH Clare |

| Just as an example of excess baggage costs: I flew cattle class with Virgin to Hong Kong 3 weeks ago, a non-diving business trip. My single bag weighed 29kg against an allowance of 23kg but I was let off and only charged for 4kg excess. Total cost £158, thats £39.50/kg to save you the maths. Gareth
