Your HSE Dive Doc is misinformed. If you have diabetes, type 1 or 2, it's not like a cold and will disappear after a while. You have it for life. If you control it well then it may feel you don't have it, but it will never disappear.

I tend to believe my Dr it was backed up by 2 other dr's one a diabetic consultant.

There are some drs out there who have other views, I had a relative who was basically making major major life changing plans because when he was diagnosed as type 2 his Dr told him life expectancey for t2 was 5 years. thats fing bull or I'm dead!
