| Oceanic Swiv180 reg. Good idea but poor design my wife and I had these from new and after 4-5 dives needed to be adjusted as they would very slightly free flow when cylinder was turned on. When I took them back to the dealer he adjusted them and sent me on my way with a very disconcerting see you again in 5-6 dives. Well it didnt take too many missed dives for me to decide to switch over to a Alpha 8 instead....... And then after waiting 4 months for my Oceanic regs to be serviced I gave in and got Apeks ![]() |

| The Delayed Aid was my worst bit of kit. Back in my numpty days it provided enough of a gadget tease to make me interested, but after it kept jamming I became dubious. Then one day it span apart into about 6 different pieces spitting washers, nuts and a spindle all over the reef over a brain coral with 4 students watching - I was a bit gutted

| Worse piece of kit? Never a doubt. The Halcyon Proteus 6 Lead Acid 10W HID Torch aka Flood-o-matic Four bulbs at about 40 quid, a cable and it still never completed a dive intact. The 'focus' adjustment allowed you to wind the bulb into the front glass and smash it, but you only did that once, and it leaked like a sieve the rest of the time. The time they sent me the wrong bulb for a fix just as I was jumping on a plane for Finland so I paid excess baggage on dead weight both ways is a side issue. In the end I sold it on Ebay as 'flooded', no reserve, starts at 1p, and still got £112 for it such is the draw of the Halcyon name. (Moths and candles are the words that come to mind) I now have a Fa-Mi LED lump. It's smaller, lighter and you could probably use it to hammer in nails. You just turn it on and get light which seemed novel at first but I've got used to it quite quickly. Last edited by nigelH : 08-01-08 at 09:37 AM. |

| Scubapro jet fins. Like strapping planks of wood to your feet. Gave me cramps when I used them. Bought some Tusa Expert Zoom spit fins and have never used the jet fins since.
