Courses

The art of writing a course is to include:
1) Information already known to the participants so that they feel comfortable embarking on the course.
2) Information they need to know - usually this does not amount to very much.
3) Information they have no hope of understanding so that they feel relieved to pass the exam which they all do.
4) Drills that are almost impossible to do and usually quite unnecessary to do in real world situations.
5) As much discomfort as required but just not quite enough to make participants bail-out.
6) A suitable fee that makes it all seem worth it.

7) Unreadable course documentation
8) lots of forms to fill in

I like a well known, heroic instructor too but that's just to make up for me being a wimp.

10) Whilst hinting at how really, really rich he is, how large his house is, his huge grounds and so he didn't need it for free anyway........ and we'll never guess what, he was sat next to his mate (insert any big name you care to mention) whilst he aced the course...... blah blah blah

You forgot to mention that for any technical course the author should have done some monumentally stupid and suicidal dives to give the course street cred.

Unless its a BSAC course in which case the male authors should have been a DO for at least 30 years and the female authors should be able drink a pint of best in under a minuet and have the skill to assemble a 15ltr and Buddy BCD whilst pissing over the side of a RHIB standing up.

With Louise having scored in all camps I am bloody amazed she hasn't written a diving encyclopedia
