Following the thread it is clear that it was not without its problems.
After asking to be put down for the trip Clare then posts this

I didn’t see any invite from Clare to the rest of those wanting to dive it,
it looks to me like she rushed off to dive the wreck before anyone else did and is now using the title
"Ice Princess" !
Yes, perhaps the first post was a bit off, but I didn't see the second post as anything other than a response to a question. It all still assumes that there is anything to be showing off about in finding something that everyone knew was there though! :?:

I tend to ignore any "title" stuff anyway in the same way as I switch off avatars. You know more from a person by what they write than what title or picture they show.

Anyway, you are right, this is the thread for Mark's trip and should stay as such.

Don't be utterly ridiculous. We had an unplanned ride out to it at the end of a three day trip, as the weather window was in our favour and we had a full boat of qualified divers and a skipper with the knowledge to get us there.

Does the fact that Mark was planning a trip here mean that we were not permitted to dive it until he had or that the same skipper he had booked should be prevented from taking other divers without Mark's permission? Mark's certainly not taken that view.

It was a little special to be the first boat load on to a wreck, although it's not like we didn't know it was there.

The user title? a bit of fun, not changed by me.

Seems to me you can find anything offensive if you try had enough. I could have found these posts in this thread to be one upmanship and the like....

I’m sorry Clare but I still feel the same way about it.
Explaining how you ended up diving it after your statements is akin
to closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
If you had done the trip report ASAP as you said then it may have been cleared up.
You say that I’m utterly ridiculous because I didn’t see you invite anyone but I still don’t see the invite.
As I said I see this thread as being Marks planned trip and don’t want to take away from that by continuing
this conversation on it.
My point has been made and I’m sticking to how I feel.
Thanks for the greens guys, sometimes when you stick your neck out it's nice to know your not alone.

As Claire has said in the quote below she is doing a magazine article for the dive ,now we are not privvy to the details of that situation ( nor is it any of our buisness) so Claire "could " be tied to a contract that states she is not alowed to write about it here first .

Re the invite :- Claire has said it was a 3 day trip that was planned & this was the last day ,now by the sounds of it there was no plan to dive it originally but as they say plans change so if you can get on a wreck then fine .
& if you check I was actually due to be on Mark's first & second trip although I dropped out of the second

Let me put it in terms you might understand.

DIR UK is a club trip which was booked 8 months ago. The boat was full 8 months ago. We decided to dive the wreck of the Ice Prince on Monday morning. At what point should we have invited anyone else? 8 months ago? It hadn't even sunk then! Monday morning? And what about the fact the boat was full?

We were using the same skipper that Mark booked. I can't see why you have a problem with it. From a personal point of view I'd hoped to dive it since it sank - nothing to do with Mark's thread.

Al

sooo here we are again

the way i see this is regardless if it was one up manship on claires and the backslappers boat or not, it was Graham who wanted to make sure HE was in the dive site first, something about being the top dog in weymouth.

good luck to you all im glad you got on the dive however being first on a wreck that everyone knows is there and named and not lifting so much as a plank of wood sums it up, you should do some of the diving Here or Here and then you have something to shout about.

any twat with a guide dog could have dived that it was a case of graham wanting to be there first.

Graham
