At last, I can fondle my Knob (s)

Woohoo, finally i've got round to inverting my twins (well i say i've done it, actually Steve sorted it for me. Cheers mate)

We went down to Stoney last friday for a try out and the difference was amazing. When diving with my cylinders the "right way up" i could only reach the knobs by inflicting a lot of pain on myself (back problems coupled with bad undersuit!) and to be honest If the sticky stuff had ever hit the windy thing on a dive I would have been in trouble.
With them "upside down" I could reach them with ease and shutdown drills were a piece of cake in comparison. I've got a bit of fettling to do with hoses and stuff which will make it easier but basically i've been converted!

Worth a try if you're struggling. I know inverting isn't for everyone but it works for me!

Just so long as you didn't practice by fondling Steve's knob

Well done Paul.

If it doesn't work one way up, there shouldn't be a problem having the cylinders the other way. Diving safe is more imprtant that conforming to pressure.

Whom is this Steve you speak off? he sounds like a handsome witty and urbane chap

As I've said before, it doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you can do it quickly and without hesitation every time.

Safe diving,
Steve

P.S. the baby twins don't look quite so small with the stand

I won't go into detail but there were a couple of moments on the second dive that nearly had me bolting for the surface to keep my Man Love virginity intact! One involved pole dancing and the other was a very intimate moment at 6mtrs. If he wants to explain i'm sure he will!

Dunno who he is but sounds like a bit of a nob or a "dleifner" type of character

And did you make sure he was wearing his O2 clean woolly mitts when he turned your cylinders the WRONG WAY UP...

I tried pointing it inwards for a shorter reach but once you have slates, compasses, computers et. al. on your wrists pointing outwards and slightly up worked out the best for me.
That made it work one handed (either) if I wanted too but shut in about two seconds if I pushed the bullbars over with the other hand.

Once you've shut down an inverted rig you can't see why anybody would want to do things the hard way. No practice. No getting the set up just right. No right undersuit. No doubt.

Did you dive an umbilical light then Nigel? If so, what did you do with the light head whilst shutting the valves?

For me keeping the light head usable is important to let my dive buddies know I have a problem and they can a) not dissappear and b) help. I could not do that if I needed two hands to shut a manifold.

Thanks
Mal
