Has Diving Changed in Terms of Numbers

Was having a discussion the other day with a mate. Do you feel diving has changed in terms of the number of people actively involved?

I remember only a few years ago every weekend I was in the water whether it be at the coast or in Stoney etc, I could arrange a trip and get it filled easily, make a few phone calls and be diving somewhere of a weekend. Now it seems to be the opposite getting people committed or even for a morning at stoney seems difficult

Whether this is because I'm not in a club now, I don't think so cos I haven't been for a number of years, could be the type of diving I've got into, who knows.

I know Factors such as cost, weather, time and monies tight for most etc obviously seem to effect it but has anybody else noticed this?

Andy
