There is something on the Terms & Conditions when you sign up saying you will use your real name, but do a search on any famous celeb or politician and there are loads.

I think most people know that I like a bit of fun - but Facebook drives me mad - can't see the point? Reckon it'll be gone in 12 months with everyone wondering what the fuss was about? Is it just me?

You could use your YD name if you just wanted to use the YD group but most people use their real names because they are 'friends' with people on there that they know through other means. For me it's more of an extension of my 'real life' freindships and I have set all the privacy settings so people can only see my profile if I have added them as friend which hopefully means it is less public than YD and consequently safer to use my real name. Having said that, there have been all sorts of scary stories about what people can do with the info they can get from someone's Facebook profile so be a bit cautious.

Still - it's good fun and a nice way to catch up with old friends.

The main difference is that facebook is locked down by default, things like myspace are open, so with that and a little bit of security fine-tuning you can tighten it fairly well.

I quite like some bits of it. I have been able to keep in touch better with my sister & her family in Canada since we are all 'friends', without having to send emails etc (which we all seem to be really bad at).

Some of the applications are a pile of shite though.

I'm on there as Nick Butcher although I find Facebook very dull.

I have not and will not add any applications as I've no idea what devious shit the program developers have put into them. If I was writing one, I know I'd put all sorts of backdoor stuff in
