It is regularly in the local paper. Still I suppose it is Barking and Dagenham Borough and one of the poorest in the country so what can you expect !

I would stay near the ExCel or City airport and tube it in to central London to see the sights.

Personally I'd stay somewhere good and get public transport to the ExCel centre. I would not bother staying around the Docklands at all - there's nothing there worth seeing or doing.

There is the whole city to choose from so why stay in the cultural vacuum that is the Docklands?

I live in a different borough, so the local rag is different Guardian versus Recorder series.

Stopping at the IBIS in Stratford would be an option as you could DLR it from there easily, and when you get back in the evening there is a cimnema locally or you are ideally placed on the central line for going into town properly, you could even get a fright bus back

And if you speak to the lovely Maria and tell her that I pointed you there from YD, she may well give you a discount.

Personally, I would stay at the Ibis in Greenwich. Its on the DLR for the dive show, handy for Observertory (?) and central London, and is quite a nice part of the world.

When Maria's parents or family come over that is where we put them up if they want to go into town even through Maria runs the one in Stratford.

Daniel
