thanks to kent tooling

Just like to thank the guys at kent tooling for the ratchet reel they recently supplied to me. It really is a superb bit of kit - well made and thought out, smooth to use, and set up just how i wanted it, with left-handed operation, 60m of line and a shorter handle so I can get it in a pocket. Not many other reels you can order like that!

Had a chance to try it out at the weekend, and it was very satisfactory, just as nice to use as my old Mcmahon, but without the worrying 'bendyness' of the mcmahon base plate as you reel in.

Hello

unfortunately I don't have a pic that I could post, but if you look at the divingproducts website under ratchet reels, then mine is like the 40/50m ones top right - it shows a left handed one there. My winding handle is 25mm instead of 40mm as standard, but I didn't have any trouble operating it with 6mm 3-finger mitts on last weekend.

I dithered over whether to buy one, as my Mcmahon compact reel was really fine (they are IMHO about the best of the 'plastic' type reels), but the Kent tooling one is much more satisfying to use and looks a lot tougher - but I guess for double the price it should be.... You might be lucky and pick one up second hand, but they do tend to hold their price, and you wouln't be able to order them quite so 'bespoke'.
