RYA Sea Survival

Can anyone recommend a centre where this sea survival course can be done, preferably within a days driving distance from South Wales.

2 of us need to do this course and fast but have been messed about by someone for weeks now as to a definite date and our deadline is approaching so need to look elsewhere for it.

Basically im after somewhere that can run this course at short notice for 2 people and within 2-3 hours drive of south wales (So i dunno, Plymouth on south coast or whatever).

I know they were doing them at Fathom & Blues in Portland. I don't knwo what the current situation is, though, as i knw they ahve had to move location and are not (as far as i am aware) any longer in the same building as the swimming pool. It is probably worth dropping Dale an email, or giving her a call. The numbers are on te website (www.fathomandblues.co.uk)

Might be worth checking with these guys - Coastal Safety International - I had a long chat with their principal at the boat show a couple of years ago and was very impressed with his approach. No idea what he's up to now though...

They've moved. Apparently like most places in that area the rent hikes have been enormous due to the Olympics sailing being built there seemingly with the intent to force them out. (this comes directly from them). Not sure if its a permanent building but they've moved to a location not far from the lighthouse.

Weymouth is about 3.5 hours each way which combined with course makes it a little long for a day trip so ideally would like somewhere a bit nearer (maybe plymouth).

I did mine at Plymouth Sailing School, ( see here Welcome to Plymouth Sailing School ).

They are based at Mountbatten and ran a great course. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt lots.

I done mine through my local adult education centre £38.00. I would check that out before driving hours to do it.
Thanks

Try Giving Richard Morley a ring on 07766222797. He's in Poole and runs them regularly.
I'm From The Rhymney valley originaly and can do South Wales to Poole in under 3 hours.
Hope that helps

Steve
