food at or near Stoney Cove on a tuesday teatime?

I am going to the EMUP meeting at Stoney on Tuesday and coming from a meeting about half an hour away so will be there early and in need of food.

Is the food in the pub at stoney any good? Do they serve food at 5pm on a Tuesday?

If not where would you recommend to eat nearby?

Thanks

Jules

I don't know if the pub at Stoney will be open/serving foor that early, but I would imagine the Mill on the Floss... erm, sorry Mill on the Soar might well be serving food at that time.

It is on the B5111 (I think that is the road number) it runs from Leicester out to Sharnford if you look on a map. Thats the road you go to Stoney on from the M1 and is on the corner where you turn right on to the switchback road towards Stoney Stanton.

From Pub Explorer website:

Coventry Road, Broughton Astley, Leicestershire LE9 6QA Tel. 01455 282419

And I believe its the B5114 not the B5111

I've overnighted at a b&B in Sapcote before and just walked to Stoney Cove and had a meal in Nemo's.

I have had the misfortune to eat at the Mill twice this year. The food - quality, choice etc and the service has gone so far downhill i doubt i will be eating there again in the forseeable future.

I am most surprised by that Scubee. I assume that one occasion was the Freeze Your Bits Gig ? Mine was OK that night, but that place does certainly have "off nights", which is quite unusual for Hungry Horse Pubs as they are normally very much a standard.

I'd forgotten about that night... they were OK then. I was there a couple of weeks later. We had gone there because it had been reasonable at the gig. One of our group had his main course arrive before his starter. One of the others had them arrive at the same time. All the steaks were Exgtremely Well Done (rather than the Rare that had been asked for. We all ordered one after another, yet they took an hour from the first dinner arriving to the last. They failed to reserve a table despite it being booked.

basically, I doubt I would be going back. If that was the first time, then they would get the benefit of the doubt, but it wasn't. i thought they had improved, but it seems that the gig weekend was a one off.
