While I love to dive in 30mtr vis, I remember my Ist proper wreck dive on the Ore Wreck off Littlehampton. Half way down the shot, pea soup, no surface, no bottom. Then that great moment when the wreck opened up in front of me and it felt like, actually still feels like, I was stepping into a Jacques Cousteau movie that I loved to watch as a kid. Still get a huge buz from that moment, diving in England is pretty damn good at times.

That and hanging about at 6mtrs with nothing else to do but float and think about where you have just been and what you have seen, before being thrown rudely back into the world.

Oh and the bit in between isn't bad either.

Ralph

Yeah what Ralph said about when the wreck comes into view. I've only done one wreck dive - the SS Serana last summer and after what seemed like a very long time going down the shot line, the twisted heap of metal covered in marine life with loads of fish appeared i just stopped and stared in awe at what i was seeing. That was a great dive. The following shallower drift dive was fairly cool too - saw the biggest, well only thornback ray i have ever seen. Awesome!

I love just being in the water and seeing stuff that is hidden to most people. I LOVE seeing wrecks that are still ship-like. In terms of animal life you can't go wrong with tompot blennies and any sort of cephalopod.

Actually, it's great to see anything that is not run of the mill.

Yeah, but you did freak to start with and try and pull me back. Soon as
you realised it was harmless we were off trying to catch up

That was a pretty good days diving.
