There are plenty of people who use nitrox for the safety benefits, not simply to extend no-stop times

I wouldn't want to still be in the water knowing the greedy gits that go on liveaboards!

I agree. It's actually my main reason. I'm hitting 57 this year so I consider "geezer gas" a given!

Still....... if a particular dive goes a particular way, and I have the gas and NDL well in hand to stay there and enjoy it...... well.....it's nice to be able to!

Hahahahah.........LOL.......

Try getting THAT on a Thai liveaboard!

Actually....... I more or less stopped further training when I moved to Japan. I can't even get Nitrox where I am here....let alone Trimix. Up by Tokyo some guys have got it together - the JUE guys (that's the GUE guys in Japan...), so if you do have the training you can also practice and use it. Not in Kyushu.

It's cool though - I get away every year somewhere....and there's a lot of nice "somewhere's" not too far from here.....
Locally I just dive air.

Next year I'm going to try and charter a whole boat - the Mermaid 1 if anyone knows the Thai liveaboards. In the summer it's in Indonesia...Komodo etc... and I met someone who is working in Saudi who reckons it will be easy to fill for a week - especially with a discounted price.

That gives a LOT more control to the trip!

Unfortunatly not, I did though as on day 3 of a 9 day trip I was not letting the boat go back to shore and losing 6 days diving cos some twat killed them selves on an effectivly bottomless wall (1000m).

Oh dear....Koh Tao!!!

Actually, I think there might be a couple of tech boats in Phuket - or at least boats that can be chartered for tech trips. I'm not sure about the Helium though. How do you fill that? Through ordinary whips like O2? Maybe it's doable over there if you set it up.
