If it's first time your really want to do a mix to get a good feel of what scapa flow has to offer. you could start with one of the cruiser's on day 1 to get a bit of a shake down dive in and then something like the F 2 for a second dive. Then go on to doing a battleship as a first dive then a shallower cruiser as a second dive as the week goes on. But try to do the James Barrie in the week as well if you can, very nice dive. All of the skippers will try to give you the best wrecks for the conditions or try to put you on wrecks that other boats aren't on so have a chat with the skipper and go from there. I have been to scapa twice before with Hazel on Stormdrift and loved it both time's the first time was in the third week of September so was a bit windy and choppy, and the second time was in august and it was like a mill pond all week, and we are now going again on the 11th of may to do the deep scapa trip. personally i think Scapa is fantastic both above and below the water and no doubt you and your guys will think the same. have a good trip

| Ive been on MV Halton with Bob, he's a top guy and a good laugh, he will show you all the sights. I liked the Tabarka, Gorbanor borris block ships for good viz and fun the huge battle ships and the crusers. I didnt do the James Barrie but inm back up ther next month. G.

| We are up in June (the week after I was up a couple of years ago, and the tabarka was awful. Either the slack was very short, or we were put in at the wrong time. either way, most of the group missed it, and those of us that got in thought it was like being in a washing machine. But we will be going up with an open mind and prepared to take the recommendations of the skipper

| Just so you know, the Konig is open again but no penetration of the wreck is allowed until further notice Bob will be the best person to advise you and i would say its not worth setting anything in stone as the weather can scupper the best laid plans

| Personally, I'd go for the Brummer, the Koln, Dresden, and the like. Depends on your depth limit/equipment setup, but when we went with single tank divers the deeper battleships were either short bottom times or they didn't get to see most of it. The blockships are a great dive IMO, and if you have the depth range in the group do the James Barrie. I loved it, vis was great, and it was the best dive of the week for me. Digs. |

| I would personlly recommend the Tabarka over the Barrie and this comes from a deep diving instructor . But if done on the proper slack then this is one of the best dives around the flow, followed shortly by the Barrie I dont mean to pimp business up here, but if I am not instructing on the first couple of days you are up here I do a mean guided dive package (In fairness to the competition, there are also other dive guides up here(They are just not as good ) ).

| My favourites are: Dresden (recognisably warship shaped) Tabarka (great fun, especially exiting from it) V81 (although the stringy seaweed wraps around all your kit) F2 & YC some other number (again recognisable bits like guns and the vice on the workbench is superb, very poignant) Above ground best bits are the soup and sanwiches from the ladies at Lyness Museum, Cake in Julia's in Stromness and The Tomb of the Eagles. Susan. 6 weeks today we'll be there ![]() |
