| many people forget this is local elections, and the local parties will have different priorities and policies locally. I wouldn't vote for a local councillor who had so little respect for my property thats/he walked across my lawn. For local elections, i don't vote on the basis of who claims they will be able to spend more but reduce taxes, but on who is going to make sure my son has adequate school resources, who is going to make sure that we don't lose our local policeman, and who is going to make sure my street light stays on all night. As for Mayor - I don't live in London, but whoever is mayor may affect what happens when i get there for work. Get Boris a decent haircut, get him to talk in a language that people understand, and he might be OK, but I doubt it very much. Give the ex-copper a go

Current Labour, and especially Brown (who ever thought there would be a worse PM than Bliar?) has to be the best thing for the SNP and other fringe parties. The one good thing about having useless main parties is that there is a real chance for some political change as has been seen in Scotland.

| The Tories got into my council last time, and there appears to have been some improvements, so I'll stick with them. Regarding London, it is important even if you don't live there, as all the major cities will be considering the initiatives London adopts. That said I don't go there so can't comment on Ken's tenure except I still can't forgive him for his apparent support of terrorism in the 80s and 90s. Therefore bumbling Boris got my vote in the poll.

| I'm for Ken. I'd have thought that any candidate would have to have demonstrated an ability at running some large organisation before even being considered to run a modern London. The only running boris has ever done is from pub to restaurant - and to TV comedy gigs. If Boris gets in we will have a clown for a mayor. Not even Springfield votes for Krusty! |

| This is the only time that I wish I lived in London so that I could vote. I would elect a tin of soup rather than Red Ken. The fact that he can have such an impact on commuters and those just outside Great London rather annoys me. We have the local elections today. We have no Labour candidate. The Lib Dem is a high flyer who really puts in the campaign work. The Tories do not even bother with flyers or window sticker. I will be surprise if they do not get 70% of the vote. I don't bother. |
