| Yes, well have done in the past... back in days of yore we would go out and dive the Rota, Seville etc.. RNPL tables or late 80's Black or grey Aladdin or Suunto SML computers 12l or 15l - pony cylinders were few and far between. Bottom times were er... limited and 20 - 30 mins of deco was consider to be a lonnnggg time. Would I do it now? Not my first choice, but I'd probably still do it. Why not first choice? because diving technology, equipment technology and availablity have moved on. My personal equipment would be CCR for these types of dives. I like to have lots of breathy stuff available. (...and the Mp3 is a must!) Paul

| Both my skippers this weekend would i suspect as they do similar off of Dover and have done for many years. They do sometimes have 2 Pony cylinders, i each side for deco and bailout. :OMG: just remembered i've done similar in the Med Lots of French, Belgium and German divers doing similar at Scapa ![]() Note: Like Odin not my first choice, but if i don't have my twins and stages with me then i'd have to review it.

Galava - Due to its depth, this dive is for the very experienced and well trained diver only, who is suitably equipped for this depth. I asked the question and he gave his answer which I am sure you will agree he is entitled to do. |

As for missing out on your "spectacular " diving. The chances of me diving in your neck of the woods is slim to none existant, so I won't be missing out. I am however planning on diving the wrecks off Malin head this year which are generally considered to be spectacular and beyond the air diving range. Cheers Simon

| The arch at Elphinstone was a nice little 63.1m dive! Dive time 60 mins, left bottom after 12 mins... 11l/202bar -end 28 bar...no pony, wonderful deco stop - pretty reef...

| Arh touché I wondered when that one would come up. Silly me |

| It was about the only way I did it for about 14 years of working as a dive guide/instructor/center owner. After that (for the last 4 years) I would use air doubles with a deco accelerator. If someone is there to pay for helium bill, thats OK too.

| Yes I'd do it if that was the only choice but would prefer a bit more gas and some He thrown in for a clearer head. |

| Used to dive dotty on singles down to past 50 and did a number of UK wrecks past 50 on a single and a pony, but that was over 20 yrs ago, twins were the norm but had a limited cf and the pair I had were either 202 bar or may be 1600 psi max I believe and were about 10 litrs twined on a "A" clamp manifold on pillar valves, POS they were too, so a "new"single held more air(not gas, air) back then.
