| Yes I know ............ ............ I must be bored as I have just opened the May issue of Dive Magazine. Flicking through I am at page 62 within a few minutes, there is an article titled "Vive La Difference" with some diving on the wrecks on the west coast of Brittany. Now there is a greenish photo of four divers on the wreck of the Kleber which went down in 1917 and sits in 49m of water, the photo shows 2 twinset divers and 2 divers on singles although one is certainly diving with a side slung stage. A couple of pages later another set of photos shows a diver with a single and a pony, caption reads "shell casings are scattered across the sandy bed at 49m So todays question would you do this dive on a single and a pony |

| Not a chance. The longer I've been diving and the more I learn the less risks I want to take. These days I'd probably not go past 20 metres on a single cylinder, maybe 30 with a pony cylinder and definitely no deco. For a 50 metre dive I'd want to be on a twinset and stage with maybe a 20/30 mix and 80% or ideally do it on CCR with the same gases. Cheers Simon

| No, but then I would say that wouldn't I Fi ! Twin set and Trimix would be my weapon of choice in this case, but some do, deep air and seem happy enough (narked off their boxes obviously, but happy

| Wouldn`t considir doing it with a single and pony on air. Mix obviously improves enjoyment and improves strokeability factor on the wreck. Coat on.............. |

Well, sort of. In my neck of the woods we routinely dive to the Galava, as just one local example, at 50 metres. On air, no big deal and we mostly do it as "same ocean buddies". Have done since the wreck was discovered and that was "quite some time ago" translate that into decades. I accept that there are better practices today, but no one's died on the Galava - yet, if you catch my drift. I guess, quite unstatistically, that we've done pretty well. So, how long have you been diving Mr Sandman? Sorry, I get really pissed off when people think that they know everything and, no, just this once I won't leave this until the jone cold stober light of day to review it. Mr Sandman, where I live you would be, big time, missing out on some spectacular diving with that attitude. Now that "spectacular diving" includes both the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

| The Kleber has been done by some members of my club who had a tie-up with a French club. They tell many stories of the French taking the mick out of the Brits with drysuits and twins etc, while the French throw on a single over the wetsuit, jump in, whiz around the entire wreck and back to the surface with minimal deco obligation. Horses for courses.
