You're right, it's f*cking huge, acres of legroom, bigger screens in the seat-backs, spiral staircases between the floors and a duty-free shop. And it does lumber somewhat down the runway!

I have to say, I like my planes a little older. I feel safer in a plane that's made a few flights
More legroom? I flew twice via Singapore and once through KL so far this year (747 cattle class). It would be nice to have some blood circulating through my feet next time!

We flew on 747s last year and on the way home this year. Turbs has got long legs, and had space between his knees and the back of the seat in front on the 747s, but on the 380 there was a good hand and a half's length of space, even when the people in front reclined their seats.

Nice soft blankets too

That always made me laugh. I think I need intellectual stimulation.
The company I work for do some work for Focker, somebody keeps rubbing out the top of the 'O' when the name is written on a white board.
Also make bits for the A380, and to see the parts next to the likes of similar parts for single aisle aircraft like the A320/A321 just emphasises the physical size of the thing.

Jealous you've been on one K&T? Noooooooo

It's funny, the plane's so big it looked like an optical illusion when I was looking at it from the departure lounge window but, once you're on it and in spite of the extra legroom etc, it really doesn't seem that much bigger than a 747.

It did feel very cumbersome rolling down the runway and I had serious doubts that it was ever going to get off the ground.

That's worrying, the 4 times I've flown in a 747 I felt very uncomfortable on take off

Safe diving,
Steve

Mmm, it seemed to take ages to get up to speed and haul itself into the air, with all the aerodynamic grace of a brontosaurus with wings

Luxury! Mine end up squished against the seat back and then get compacted into my face when the person in front puts their seat back...

Short and fat

There was 1 at Orlando, looked short and fat.

If you have to fly try and snag a good seat, take a look at seatguru.com, gives you ideas of where to try and book a seat.

When I was younger, it was always stressed to me that it was good manners to check with the person behind before you reclined your seat. Nowadays, people don't give a monkey's about the comfort of anyone else, yet we all know how bloody uncomfortable it is when the seat in front jams into your knees. Apparently, it is a passengers 'right' to cause fellow passengers discomfort.
