Arrrrgggghhhh! - I suppose this is a fundamental difference in attitude to life, the Universe and everything?

A bounce dive to 45 mtrs on a single 12 for a dive instructor (although I don't know if PV was one when she did the dive)? Give me a break, where is the danger? You are in far more danger when crossing the road?

I've said it before and will doubtless gob off again about how overly cautious people are these days, relying on other people to tell them what they can and can't do or relying on a C card to verify they can safely dive to XX mtrs?

Diving on air isn't rocket science and .................

I am not advocating that a complete novice should .................... this has all been done before so I won't bore you with a repeat performance.

If you diving then you have to understand the end result could be death but the odds are fantastically slim (due to kit failure) against this happening.

If you listen to me or anything I say then you will die.

I purposely dive with Nitrox to limit my depth.

Otherwise the temptation to go that bit more would always be there.

Please don't fight. It was a silly thing to do. I survived. I wouldn't advocate anyone else doing it without adequate gear and training.

I once drove 120 miles an hour on the motorway too just to see what it felt like. That was stupid too. I won't do it again.

The older I get the more scared and conservative I get. But I still enjoy a little excitement now and again.

Don't row over it though. I am bad and I did wrong. End of.

We are not fighting. I have met Mal and he seemed a really nice guy and I am not the fighting type. Furthermore I respect his opinions and this is just a difference of opinion ............. actually, it is more fundamental than an opinion. There is no aggression intended towards Mal and I am absolutely certain he knows that (and if he doesn't then I apologise to him) + he is bigger than me and could easily Kick my arse. Oops, there was a slight typo in that last sentence and it involved missing the "k" and getting a letter close to it!

I'm more interested (now) in hearing who you like the most and want to hold back whilst shouting "leave it, he's not worth it?"

If it's so safe, why stop at 45m surely you have more gas and can go much deeper can't you? Make the dive a little more edgy and be completely narced off you t*ts? I know I am cautious but if you take minimum gas out of the equation, you can go much deeper for much longer, so why this namby pambying about at 45m doing this in clear warm water when there are loads of equally safe thrills to be had much deeper?

Last dive: drift dive on Looe Gate off Brighton on Saturday

14m max; 3m vis; sunny; 2 Lumpsuckers seen, one guarding a nest of purple eggs; holes full of translucent shrimps; starfish humping everywhere!

Nice gentle and enjoyable dive on a very familiar site but a good reminder of why I do this.
