Spent 2 hours underwater today

And will invariably do the same next weekend too

It's just work, and another trip to London, getting in the way of a good dive this week

Helped get the club RIB out on its mooring yesterday & today gave it a run around Swanage bay, with a couple of dives thrown in Very fast drift first off, but lots to see, even if a bit blurry as they flew by; loads of dahlia & daisy anemones. Then the Fleur; bit murky but big shoal of bib still hanging around there, with the odd bass zipping between them. Lots of cuckoo wrasse; males with bits if weed in their mouths off to make their nest. 2 massive sea lemons, possibly in love.

Beautiful day out on flat water. Let's hope this continues

Visted 8 Acre Lake off the A63 just outside of Hull. Recently reopened under new ownership. Previous owner had taken out most of the "Attractions" so it was somewhat bare.
Lovely warm day lake like a mill pond. Max depth was 13M and viz was variable ranging from 3-5M down to virtually nil. Very quite just the 4 of us there. Bottom is silt and was still kicked up in places from yesterdays visitors.
Made the mistake on dive 1 of thinking we could comfortably manage "sans" gloves however once below 5M it was apparent it had not been one of our best decisions.
The new owner Mike seems a really friendly guy who is in the process of getting his new venture up and running. No food at the moment and a lack of underwater attractions however Mike is working toward rectifying both in the near future.
£5 registration on first visit valid for two years and £10 a day to dive. A good local venue with resonable cost. Nice to have it back up and running and at less than 40 Mins from home easily do able. Note there is no onsite compressor at this time so ring Mike in advance and he can loan you full cylinders for your 2nd dive.
Out of interest the guys who went out of Hornsea on the Club RHIB report Viz was less than 0.5 of a metre in the vicinity of Bempton Cliffs. Disappointing considering the weather is currently fantastic.

well i have similar pain cos whilst gerbil is loch fyne i'll be teaching bsac 88 tables to our lot... and the last time i looked at them was for my theory instructor exam.

St abbs was nice but chilly on sat 8 degree c. Today it was foggy as anything so after a dip at pettycowick we canned the second dive and came home early.

got some nice hermit crab pictures

Wink

I was at St Abbs this weekend too

Saturday was just heaven - Bright Blue Skies and more viz than you can shake a stick at

Saw my first Wolf Fish too..

Sunday started out grim but the second dive was MUCH better - you should have stuck around

We were the lot with the Yellow Rib desperately trying to look as if we knew what we were doing with it

Just got back from Radio1's big week end

Kooks were awsum, Editors very cool but the star of the show had to be Newton Falkner. That man is the most amazing guitarist.

We had two tickets for Saturday but we gave them to the kids. I didn't think I stood a chance getting in Sunday but a friend came up trumps with two tickets and two VIP pases.

Mind you Andyp said he thought it was very funny that the only VIPs i recognized were Kelly Osborn (the latest skinny version) Chris Moyles (f me hes short) and Jade goody who is just as f-ing ugly in real life as she is on the TV

twas a great day out.

Just to finish my weekend, after 2 crap dives yesterday i spent an hour this evening sorting this out:

Whoever says reels jam and can spew out all the line behind you and spools cant is a liar !

Somehow while still clipped to me after i'd kitted up and sat on the tubes waiting for the shot to go in the thing unwound into the water behind me. And caught on the prop....and took 5 minutes to pull back in.

Previously the trailing 30m of line issue has only happened in muddy puddles - yesterday proved it can happen in the sea.

Still, it gave me something to do this evening while sat outside in the sun.
