mp3 players...
ok I want / need an mp3 player to sit on a shelf and play music all day.

dont want to take it to the gym or use in the car.

needs to be bigger than 20 gig.

What should I be looking for ?

I got a refurb'd Creative Zen with 30gb from Ebay last week for £45, three month warranty, chargers &cables, etc., included.

The above type, Archos or iRiver, all are supposed to be pretty good.
However, I bought myself a Scandisk Sansa Clip 2gb player that can clip onto your pocket, coat, shirt etc., and its awesome and smaller than a box of matches (not the cooks type or swan). Bought some funky metal in ear phones off ebay as well and I'm sorted. Music quality is brill.

have you got a PC with loads of MP3's on?

I have an internet radio that also acts as a music streamer, so I can stream my MP3 collection wirelessly from the PC hard drive. If it's never going to leave the shelf, would that be a better idea, perhaps?

I found a neat little thing on my internet radio recently - I can set up my favourite radio stations online (easier to search online than using the radio tuner, there are something like 12000 radio stations available now) and then my favourites are synchchronised with the radio next time it updates the radio station list! How great is that?!

I do the same sort of thing at home only with a laptop, all my music is on my main PC so just play it through the laptop in whatever room I'm in.
