| Ali Twins Ok the title looks like another newbie question and in a way it is. At the end of the month a few oddballs are off to the red sea for a weeks wreck diving & merryment. As a few may know ive just started diving twin 12's with W&BP my old BCD, 5mm semi dry & Ali 12 i had to use 11kg in the uk with a W&BP and my dry suit i have 5kg So how much weight should i be looking to be using with twin 12's i dont want to be looking like a bridge nickers on her honeymoon by going up & down for the trip.

| Simple questions are never easy to answer..... Very much depends on the bouyancy of your suits and cylinders but .... the AL80's / 207 bar twinsets in my shed need 4 - 5kg more weight than 12L / 232 bar steel twinsets also in my shed. Drysuit compared with wetsuit is almost impossible to answer - but 5kg would be a good place to start. So all in all no change! I suggest weighting as per normal and blobbing around in the shallows with an almost empty twin set until happy. Everytime I dive somewhere warm and put on the wetsuit I am depressed just how heavy the Al cylinders are. Enjoy your trip Hugh |

| I'd dive a single and sling an ally 12 for the deeper dives. I did Red Sea on a twinset and it was ok bit a bit of a PITA.

| Mal, The old BCD i used was half wing / BCD i did try a full weight check after a dive on a house reef with 30bar and could not hold a 3mtr stop without poping to the surface, the set up ill be taking on the Tala trip will be a 56lb wing & custom dives S/S back plate. Ive done a pool check with my semi dry and 5kg was fine but it was with full tanks. im not sure how patient the guy's will be doing a weight check as its a liveaboard. but may be once we have anchoured on a wreck i may be able to get a full check done. Dont forget fat floats hence the special K diet ive been on now for 3 weeks

Tala is a great boat and the boys on board won't have a problem with you jumping on and off the boat to adjust the weight as required. Pass on my regards to Faisal when you are out there.
