The difference between female divers in different countries is much more striking than the difference in male divers.

IME male divers all tend to much or a much-ness - kit-fetishists with egos and the occassional fish-watcher

Women divers tend to be a much more varied bunch. Here in Japan it seems that at least 60% of the regular divers are women and the shops sell a huge range of woman specific gear - from this season's hot new wetsuit to regs with shorter hoses and, of course, a full range of diving make-up.

Women divers in Japan are generally very competent with depressingly low SAC - I swear that some ofthem much actually blow into their tanks!

So given the choice between sharing the boat with gobbing lard-arses (of either sex) or courteous svelte Japanese ladies I know which I'd prefer!
