I really do hope you are joking, forgive me if you are. If you are not then for fecks sake who are you diving with who is letting you do this? Shame on anyone who encourages this. Helen - I'm in Scapa on my hols at the moment but felt I needed to say this.

| Cold, dark, Wastwater too. Not sounding like my idea of healthy... (Though I have to admit my 21st dive was to 150ft in the Irish sea, on a 65cu ft tank, in 1975 - and I lived - but I can remember the dive still, and didn't much enjoy it, even though it was after a week's steady build-up...)

| I am having a fab time in Scapa. However, the diving is demanding and needs planning. It is new to me but I am ready for it now. I was cacking myself before my first 38m and 45m dives. These dives are to be taken seriously. This shit souldn't be taken lightly. Moz tells me

What training is involved in deep diving? Padi? or Bsac? or iantd? how does some one get the knowledge so to speak? And what advise could be given to those that will do what they feel is within there diving skills or abillities? rather than just saying dont do it for the sake of it some guidance in the correct way to approach the dive, could prove prudent. Proper dive planning and a sound mental approach is key to all dives. Me pesonally would recomend doing as i have the deep speciality, go with experinced divers and talk to poeple who for one reason or another have been to the edges of there limits, be this to save a buddy or just to go there....we all have our reasons! |

| THIS IS BUOYANT BABE POSTING UNDER MOZ - I was going to say something really profound at this point but instead I'm just going to say blahblahblahblahblahblah. Let Nats make her own mind up. Anyone else who thinks it is okay to dive deep with no proper experience is a pump-faced-witch. Last edited by Moz : 04-06-08 at 11:48 PM. |

I personally would like to take the INTD advanced nitrox and deco procedures course. But I don't do enough diving to warrant the expense of getting kitted up for that kind of stuff. I don't envisage having the time for it in the forseeable future either Having been diving for a number of years now I notice that I am perhaps more conservative than ever before. I would not dream of planning dives to way over 30m without wholy adequate redundancy. Besides, my Aladin Smart Pro makes too many noises if I venture much beyond 30m for more than a very few minutes. Of course on the day, temptation may lure us a bit further into our comfort buffer and I would never deride an experienced diver if they are happy to take a single 12 to 40m on a regular basis. Sorry, I'm rambling all over Nat's thread. Paul |
