Weymouth for non divers ?

Going to Weymouth 5th to 11th July with SWMBO & wondered what there was to do for a non diver ? attractions must see etc .
Also are there any boats that go midweek & take individual bookings & don't object to solo diving ?
TIA

Plenty of bits for the non diver. The town has a;
swimming pool and a gym
10 pin bowling
multiplex cimema
the beach - if the sun is out
Sea Life Centre
Portland Spa
Brewers Quay
Large town centre, plenty of shops
Dorchester is a bus ride away, Poole and Bournmouth can be reached by a short train trip.
Plenty of pubs, nightclubs and food options

Good walks at;
Portland bill - inc the lobster pot for a crab sandwich
The swannery at Abbotsbury
Hardies monument

HTH
Andy

feel free to give me a shout if you need anything specific!

What Treerat said + There are miles of lovely coastal paths around as it is on the south west coast path, you can do worse than just choosing a bit away from town at random. My favourite is the area between Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door - although it is a real tourist trap. Osmington Mills is lovely. The East (Morning) and West (Afternoon) side of Portland away from the tourist traps are nice. For chilling out Weymouth Harbour is nice for pubs and cafes. You can do Mackerel fishing or fast 'white water' RIB rides from Weymouth Harbour as well.

Solo diving is fairly common down here and most boats will take you, in fact I can't think of any that won't although some get a bit twitchy about solo RB divers. My recommendations for midweek bookings:

Julian White, Very large, comfortable, fast RIBS and probably the most knowledgeable skipper (open to the public) for fishing dives. pdcdiving@hotmail.com

Scimitar Diving, hard boats. Scimitar Diving Ltd Hardboat Diving Made Easy

They both run a shuttle type service from Portland and are great skippers.

Also Ian Cornwall is very good out of West Bay West Bay Dive Charters although the viz has been poor that way in recent times. He definitely allows solo rebreathers.

There are other skippers who run regular (usually fishing) evening dives aimed at locals, if you like you can PM me near the time and I can let you know what is on.
