IOW shore dives

This year the family holiday in August is in the I.O.W, As the daughter will not be going with us (she is too cool to be seen with the old codgers ) there will be room in the car for diving equipment. Have been looking through "dive wight and hampshire" and was wondering if the following sites are worth doing. All these will have to be shore dives, the plan is that the best part of the day will be doing family things and in the evening try to get a sneaky dive in. The sites in question are:

Seaview,
Bembridge lifeboat station,
Sandown Pier,
Shanklin
The moorings,
Ventnor,
Remains of the paddle steamer "chancellor"
Freshwaterbay
Brook ledges

All these dives will have to be carried out solo. Are these sites worth checking out. Any info will be most appreciated

It might be worth contacting the local BSAC club and see if one of the members would be free to dive with you, as they may have the local knowledge, unless you prefer solo diving?

Dunno how much experience you have but i am also a sports diver and i wouldn't consider solo diving in the solent/ channel depending which side you on, not even a shore dive. Make sure you know what the tide is up up if that's not's too much of an obvious thing to say, specially anywhere near the needles.

Was primarily aiming for the Shanklin/Sandown side of the Island. As advised will speak to any local dive clubs for info
