Yes IMO it's entirely possible to have close friendships and sharing rooms etc with the opposite sex without the need for mattress dancing.

I've shared a room with 3 YD ladies [one of them was the Dud ] at various times and never felt uncomfortable, except for the time a well known tech instructor messed up the booking and my buddy and I were supposed to share a very small double bed......the discomfort wasn't because of any latent sexual tension, but because the lady in question snores like a Wart hog with terminal sinus problems and a heavy cold.
