Yes quite right,

And looking at an injury requiring hospital treatment I'd not be very happy at you waiting until the end of the shift and be asking whether you could drive safely or if transport to hospital/home was required. This is crap and you ought to take advice. Hope it's on the mend soon anyway.

My weekend? I bought a new drysuit!

a method statement and training is what is required.

methinks quite a few of the 'big seven' out of HASAWA 1974 have been breached here.

I would be calling HSE and reporting it.

and as much as I hate ambulance chasing Lawyers I would be calling a claims specialist as you are not in a union.

well thanks im on the mend, and after 3 or 4 hours of doing my "normal" duties
my foot swells and is uncomfortable shall we say,at which point i go sit on the phones,
we do a health and safty thing on the p.c once a year but no formal training,
like i say ive removed and put in loads of these beams over the years ok.
this one just slipped off my hand before i could get a firm grip, and my colegue who passed it to me just let it go,
suppose he thought i had hold of it,dont think i will claim,
but i will wait till jim gets home from kenya and see what he thinks.

thanks everyone for your thoughts and kind wishes

Sorry to hear about your foot Dawn. Listen to Aunty Morag. She speak with wise tongue.

Go and visit the CAB. They will give you some advice as to how to put in a claim for industrial injury.

If you have a grievance, they will help you with that, but ti is a seperate process.

If you have a guy in the workplace who is already a TU member, find out which one, and get in touch with them. You might find that they will help you, if it means they are likely to get a recognition deal on the back of it.
