Yes definitely (see my user name), however I don`t think I could give it enough time to justify it.
Probably wouldn`t buy one though, it would be more fun to build my own, most of them look home built anyway.![]()

I am fascinated by rebreathers, don't know anything "real" about them, but still fascinated. I love the idea of fettling and working with something and adding bits and pieces - purely from the engineering/geeky/blokey side of it. What would I get? A Meg. Do I know why? Nope, just looks like it would never break and would survive anything. Would I look a knob if I did? oh yes! I know that I could maintain a RB, but I'm not sure that I have the diving mindset to use one.
I would love one. Will my diving ever justify it? Probably (definitely) not. In order to do that sort of diving, I'd have to put some bloody serious time in - and after the divorce, I doubt I would be able to even think about an RB. BUT, do you have to dive deep to use a RB? If you had the cash, would it be a viable alternative to a good ol' twinset?
I'm having enough fun at my current limit (30M) to keep me happy, I have enough toys to keep me happy as well - for the moment.
Will I get one? At the moment, no. Still, it doesn't hurt to pipe dream, does it?!?
Cheers.
Stan.
You're just jealous because the voices in your head are talking to me....
Gas strategy? For really smelly ones, eat sprouts.
I'm waiting until somebody builds the only safe one on the market, that has a published FMECA that was independently verified (oh bugger that rules out the Apocolypse)...
Sorry guys flippant response - yes I'd love a Sentinel (get off the phone John and read the rest of the post....) but I'm just not doing enough UK diving to justify it.

Next dive : Thursday April 15th - Aeolian sky + Black Hawk Bow. Spaces Available, £45.
I want another one, 6 days in Scapa has given me back my love of wreck diving. I wish I had never sold my Meg, oh well![]()
70m dive = £150+ on gas and logistics on OC but its £15 in gas lime and batteries on a CCR
I had no choice but to go CCR or quit doing the diving i wanted to do.
If I could do OC dives to 70m for 40min bottom times on OC for £15 I wouldent touch a CCR with a barge pole.
Now I have one its nice to do all diving on mix for penuts. Even on a 35m dive i am paying less than the Nitrox divers. But in order to make CCR make sense you need to be doing a fair bit of 50m+ diving.
My first CCR cost £3500 including Mod1 and 3 training and it paid for its self in gas in under two years. That was in 2004 so I have saved well over £10,000 in gas so far. My last year as a OC trimix diver was 2003/4. I did 23 trimix dives. If on average i spent £100 a dive on gas thats £2300 so in 4/5 through 8/9 I would have saved £9200 But in 2007 I did 42 trimix dives because I could aford it on a CCR which is why i say id have saved well over 10K by now.
