Cos I bloody hate AOL mate! I know, I know - it more than likely does everything you want of it, and lots and lots of people get on with it just fine.

I just personally feel the whole interface is a steaming pile of horse dung and that AOL on any PC is very similar to a really bad dose of herpes - once you've got it, it's impossible to get rid of

I've just been in a similar position AnnMarie.

I used Zen for something like 2 years and moved house about 2 weeks ago. I called Zen up and was told it was going to cost me £60 cos I had to go through the activation process again. Now I understand the disconnection process etc etc etc but I don't like the hefty £60, seemed a bit much...

Anyways having said that I have gone with them again as work have paid for it

Zen are good but would think of going to 1GB with someone else in future

Seconded. AOL does suck big ones. The integrated browser, the non-routing issue, the controls on access.

Ok - it's great for someone to just get on the internet first time, but it doesn't take long to outgrow.

I started on Compuserve and I found that restrictive, and moved to Pipex Dial pretty much straight away. (1991/1992-ish)

However, not quite as restrictive as Prestel was. (!!)
