Oh great THANKS! You had to remind me of COBOL (I need a lie down now!). Started off simple, was as much use, in the long term, as programming in GROCKLE (a localised SW England language)

At one point had my grubby mitts on a Burroughs B1700 or B1800 mainframe which was the Police PNC back in the early 80's at Scotland Yard.

I was only 12 at the time and it was my first glance at a 'proper' computer.

Then my School had a Link 480z network with a Winchester disk and 10" floppies, running CP/M and a rudimentary network which would crash if you typed h: or anything which didn't exist.

Oh - and IBM hard disks which were removeable. Units looked like massive fridge freezers and you would place these plattens into them and twist the bayonet to lock them in. Nightmare!
