| Am not the only one accessing the server- I have a salesman who connects from his taplop when out on the road. Have re-enabled DNS this morning and whill see what happens tonight when I connect from home. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond so far. You're all lovely. What's brown and sticky? A stick. What's white and silly? A window sill. What goes 99 clonk? A centipede with a wooden leg. Terribly sorry. I have an 8 year old daughter who thinks those jokes are very funny. Then again she did wander up to the recently dumped Bottle Monkey and shout "you are a sad lonely man who is going to die alone. ALONE!". Slightly worrying that she has her dad's sense of humour.

| Not sure if you've got this sorted yet but just to echo what others have said you defo need DNS running. By all accounts your active directory should have fallen to pieces if you've stopped your only DNS server. When you VPN in your VPN connection on your client PC should be assigned IP details by your server which should include itself as the DNS server. This enables you to resolve names on the network you've connected to. Its also worth checking if your SBS server is running WINS (it probably will be) and that when you connect you also get given a WINS server address. WINS can help with network browsing even if you don't have your DNS config nailed down.
