Question Free SMTP Mail Providers
Anyone know of a free mail provider that allows you to use POP3 and SMTP servers (ie for use through outlook) or one they'd recommend?

Having problems with an existing account I have with freeserve, so they're toast..

connectfree (www.connectfree.co.uk) will set up a free account for you, and you can also use it via a webmail account when you are away from your main pooter.

Even though I've got my own domain and virgin broadband now, I still use the connectfree POP3 account for the webmail reason.

uk2.net - though now I use Yahoo 'cause it has better spam filters (but I pay the extra for this). uk2.net do free dial up/webmail.

AFAIAA, Yahoo and Hotmail etc are not SMTP mail servers so I was under the impression that SMTP would not be free, apparently NTL & Blueyonder etc ARE SMTP

Ah well Steve, that'd be where you are wrong.

I download all my Yahoo mail to my mail client with no probs whatsoever.

The server settings are

pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

you know your log-in details and off you go!

I run my own SMTP and POP3 and the filters put 3000+ a day on ice.
My addresses have been on the web too long.
