Question Question for IT-wallahs out there

I'm looking at dumping my 512K BT broadband setup as soon as its first year's contract is up for renewal. I've had a good look about and there are some very keen deals on 1 or 2Mb at the moment (cheaper than I'm paying poxy BT for 512K anyway), though the cheapest are restricted in terms of how much you can download before copping extra charges.

Thing is - I don't know how much I use.. I use it for browsing YD as well as other fora, fair bit of motorsport, but don't download much music worth speaking of. Is there an app out there that can be used as a daily/weekly/monthly counter of Mb downloaded?

[EDIT] Shitgoddam. Please ignore the apalling grammar and apostrophe abuse in the title - I was having a brain-fart moment and now I can't edit the bugger[/EDIT]

If you are not downloading loads of torrents, vids, mp3's, etc, you should be ok.
If you want software, something like this:

http://www.analogx.com/contents/down...etwork/nsl.htm

may be what you need.

Never used anything like this myself though, so don't know if it will give exactly what you are after.

Have a trundle through Download.com - might be something on there -

e.g.

http://www.download.com/MyProxy/3000...ml?tag=lst-0-4

or

http://www.download.com/BWMeter/3000...l?tag=lst-0-11

look like they might help? (Caveat - never used either myself!)

Let me get this straight. Are you saying your lifetime has lasted a moment?

Yeah, but every moment spent in your company drags out for years, ya cumquat.

Try PLUSNET, they do 1mb line for £14.99/month with a 1Gb limit which I have never been near.

Thanks James, have been looking at Plusnet - their 2Mbit/2Gb package at £19.99 looks highly interesting
