Sony wide screen TVs

My manky old TV had given up the ghost when I got in this evening (after 12 years AND it cost me a whole £150 when new! ) so I think its time to go wide screen. I've got my eye on the Sony KV-28CS70 at the moment but was wondering if anyone has got one and what they think of it.

Time to add a "TVs" section to the equipment forum?

not sure if this is the model my dad has, if it is i covet it and would sell my wife and child for it.

all you relly need to know is its a sony that says it all really, supervisor for contractor we worked for last year was offered silly money for an early sony trinitron by a TV dealer ,so go for it.

I've got a similar one - KD-28DX51 which is 28" widescreen one. I have to say it's stunning. I had a philips one which gave up the ghost and I was quite suprised to see how much sharper the picture was. DVD's are as sharp as on a PC monitor.

Highly recommend the Sony Wega one's like mine. Would recommend looking at Costco if you've got a local one. The TV was cheaper there than online and you get a 3 year warranty.

Cheers
Al

I've got a Sony 32 inch widescreen a couple of years ago and it's great. Nick, I know you're London based, so if you buy it from John Lewis on Oxford Street they give you a five year guarantee and will price match anywhere within an X mile radius (which includes all the odd little shops on Tottenham Court Road).

Laters,
Janos

I have got a sony KV28CL10u and I love it

The picture is great. I have had it a year now and never a problem. Have always gone with sony cos the quality of them is very high and they last ages (my parents have had a sony the whole time I lived at home which lasted 21yrs).

Sony Wega 50" Wide Screen TV, currently on sale at Makro for £1299.00 + vat, including Glass stand which is stunning on its own. Three Yrs ago I bought Hubby one and paid a whacking great £6000.00. I would highly recommend it though. Crystal clear picture and great sound quality.

Just Keep away from Large LCD for a few months as the picture quality on these at the moment are no where near as good as a CRT, all due to the back light display and picture lag. These will soon be better and on sale in 5 months time from Sony (better backlighting = better colour representation,) (Picture lag = fuzzy edges instead of sharp quality and highly defined edges)

The plasmas are good but will only look good for 3-4 years due to burn through. Again these are set to improve but LCD should be much better by then.

I bought a Sony KD32DX50 about 6 months ago, fantastic picture for around £600.

I do Picture quality measurments with my Job
