Alternative fuelled vehicles

One of the guys at work has just shelled out the grand sum of £500 on an old Seat diesel. He got it to play around with the veggie oil thing. It could be an interesting outcome as he tends to go at things like a bull in a china shop!
I am happy with my Vauxhall diesel, 55+mpg, quite quick and quiet.

I think my next best approach, as still undecided (has deisel made that much of an advance since I last drove one?) will be to hire a few vehicles of different types and see what I get on with, driving-wise, as I admit to being a bit of a petrol-head sometimes (just watch out for that orange fiesta in the outside lane, M69 J2, 4:30am!).

As for servicing an, e.g., Vauxhall lpg, do the main dealers do this if factory fitted, thus eliminating the 2 services issue? (Prius not mentioned here, as have seen the price tag am not management material yet!)

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but I believe there is a govt scheme whereby you can claim back up to 75% of the cost of installing an LPG conversion on a car if it is less than a year old.
I may be wrong.
