Laptop Email problems

Need a bit of help here guys, just got a new laptop and pc card from vodaphone for mobile internet and email. I managed to access the internet after a bit of messing about, with the settings but I can't get email to go through, except to myself, really handy!. I am using outlook for my email and have matched the settings from my home pc but all the messages come back undeliverable or not allowed to forward to this recipiant kind of thing. I've tried logging onto yahoo and using that but the same thing happened.
Any help would be appreciated, I've tried contacting customer services at vodaphone incase it is a settings thing but getting through to somebody who knows about the pc card is not that easy.

It it a Vodafone 3G card?

I have one and it's ok, but I use a VPN connection to our mail (exchange) server.

If you are trying to send mail, you will probably need to:

a) Use the Vodafone SMTP server as your 'sending' server
b) Authenticate on your normal SMTP server.

Option b) is not always available and you'd need to be logged on to a Tesco dialup number if youwanted to send using the tesco SMTP server, for instance.
